The IVL Foundation donated sericulture equipment and materials to Chaipattana Foundation to support the preservation of local craftsmanship at the Sericulture Research and Study Center in Chaiyaphum province. The IVL Foundation, wishing to help preserve the dying arts and crafts of Thailand, identified the Chaipattana Foundation’s sericulture project in Chaiyaphum as a critical development and production center for traditional Thai silk, from the growing of silkworms to the weaving of silk fabric and the use of locally sourced and natural dyes.
The Chaipattana Foundation is a non-government organization founded by H.M. King Bhumibol the Great and has been operating in Thailand since 1988. Its work encompasses areas such as agricultural development, environmental quality and sustainable management of natural resources with the purpose of promoting and supporting sustainable development and self-reliance. Its current Honorary President and Executive Chairperson is H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
